#detective conan #case closed #amv #my amvs #eye strain #heiji hattori #harley hartwell #conan edogawa #shinichi kudo #funimation english dub script #video #happy two-year anniversary to 'no thoughts just heiji hattori'!#while it's not my first amv (it's maybe my... fifth?)#it was the first one i made with davinci resolve and the amv that really got me into editing amvs for real #it's the amv that made me believe i could make amvs 🥺#and in remastering it i deeply understood how ambitious it was! i thought i did a lot of audio mixing for 'messed up'#but that's not even close to all the audio mixing i did here--cannot believe that i did all this for my first big amv project #it took about 20 hours *just* to remaster!#which is something i've been meaning to do for a while now so i'm very happy to finally share the results!#to make this a 'remaster' and not a 'redo' the only changes i tried to make were to the source footage and audio #video now uses almost entirely hd remastered footage from my blu-rays or netflix rather than my dvds #but oh gosh was it *hard* not to touch anything else! i'd do so many things differently now #but this video will always be really special to me (and i can't believe i did it at all tbh!)#i hope seeing it in hd is fun too! i'm so blown away by all the love this vid's gotten #and that it helped increase interest in funi's old english dub is amazing and 100% what i was trying to do with it!#thank you everyone for all the support <333 i wouldn't be the video editor i am today without this vid or your encouragement for it <3333 #like the original the sources used are mostly from what funi dubbed (but mixed in hd by me!): eps 48-49 57-58 77-78 117 and 118 and movie 3 #but i also used episodes 141-142 174 189 239 263 277 291 293 345 479 491 517 and 522 #and ova 3 and tv special 6 (episode one) and movies 10 and 13 and ops 27 31 and 33 and the funi 5.2 dvd blooper for the one line lol #the song is 'you're stupid aren't you' by toshio masuda (from jubei-chan 2)

something i never rly see ppl mention in discussions abt the "hyperpop scene" is how much of its early fame and early artists came from the roblox audio community.

nobody even knows about the roblox audio community anymore cuz you cant even upload custom audios anymore but in like 2018-2020 there used to be this subculture of teenagers who would do wizard shit in audacity to mp3s to bypassed the audio filter so they could upload songs w swears in them lmao. and they'd all put extremely loud tags at the start announcing the username of the person who "bypassed" it and so people would get popular based on how good their bypasses were and how much they got played among people in the hangout games that were considered cool and hip back then.

im just laughing cuz. this was a song that was SUPER popular and influential on all those ppl back then but it's been mostly wiped off the internet cuz the guy who made it quit music. but the one reupload of it has a tag from a roblox audio creator at the start LOL. and so many of the current soundcloud kids grew up hearing this shit.

and i was there for all of this i was friends w this dude. but a lot of the early hyperpop ppl (quinn, twikipedia ((who remains my homie 4l)), lieu, kurtains, etc) idk if ppl still talk abt the latter two much even. but all those ppl got their early fame on roblox of all places.

ok so we're all in agreement that the way the show is handling trixie and matthew's storyline is complete shite right?

#call the midwife #call the midwife series 13 #don't usually like putting negativity in tags but.... i am seriously so frustrated by this lol #not only does it just... not make sense with EITHER characters #it also just feels like a totally lazy way to add drama...#like there's totally a way they could have added a money-issues storyline that could have been really interesting!#but pointless miscommunication? matthew being a chauvinistic dickhead? trixie have barely any of her own agency??? nah nah #fuck that lol #also looks like they're going to make her return to alcoholism in the finale which is completely annoying #like there were whole SERIES dedicated to her getting help with it!!#and it was amazing! it was one of the few times i've seen alcoholism depicted with such care on screen PARTICULARLY w/ a female character #uguhughuu idk #i'm just ranting here soz lol #and like ctm has made some very strange choices in terms of characters and plotlines in the past #but this one really feels like it's taking the piss imo lol...

Ultimately I KNOWWW being born in 1997 means I'm not really a 90s kid, I didn't grow up in it, but I STILL do remember the turn of the century (however very very vaguely it is) and thus. People born in 2000 and later will always feel young to me. So I will continuously be surprised when I hear that someone I know was born in 2000 or later. Such is my affliction.

do you ever think about how Ohkubo extremely casually dropped the fact that Spirit & Kami were teen parents & then proceeded to never expound upon that fact or bring it up ever again despite it explaining a whole lot about them & Maka

#I think a big part of why I'm so attached to/interested in spirit as a character is because he objectively has A LOT going on in his life.#but because he was created to fill that stock pervy comedic-relief anime side-character archetype we never get to see any of it examined.#or even brought up at all for the most part #like spirit apparently comes from a long line of death weapons who despite having been loyal to lord death for generations are never ever #mentioned & who spirit himself never mentions despite carrying on the family tradition (although he's not unique in that regard tbh)#at 12-13 years old he becomes stein's weapon partner & in his own words it became “[spirit's] job to control [stein].”#another kid with a laundry list of mental health & behavioral issues that spirit probably wasn't super prepared to help “control”#(personally I think that this “job” of spirit's was a duty he took upon himself rather than something lord death necessarily told him to do)#then just ~5 years later he 1) loses/rejects said weapon partner & probably best friend after some really major boundaries were crossed #2) becomes a husband & father at just 18 #(& in his own words a broke 18 year old at that. another point towards him not being in contact with any family if they're even alive)#3) becomes technically one of the most important people in the world once he ascends to being a death weapon.#not necessarily in that exact order but certainly in quick succession.#& then we fast forward to canon & spirit's at best a guy who drinks way more than he probably should & at worst a functioning alcoholic #who's only A MONTH into being divorced for his habitual infidelity & is in the really weird position of being the primary caretaker of his #daughter who (rightfully) hates him despite him having zero custodial rights over her.#& imo he seems to have no friends in death city before stein & the other death scythes return despite generally being a people person.#like. spirit is kind of the epitome of should've been at the club lmao #soul eater #spirit albarn #kami albarn #meta (kind of. not really lol)

I have always loved this shot from the Very First Captains' Meeting we see in Bleach. Between some combination of Early Kubo Art Rizz and the fact that he hadn't exactly nailed everyone's aesthetic yet, everyone looks sublimely scrungly.

Anyway, I was delighted to find that the anime gave us a companion shot for the lieutenants, a loving pan over These Sure Are Some Individuals.

Bonus! The manga panel this is based on doesn't have quite the same degree of charm (or the full roster) but they did Mike Wazowski my boy Iba, and I am incredibly charmed by this.
